Vending machines can certainly be convenient when you’re dying for that 3 p.m. snack, or are in desperate need of a drink, but now a new vending machine is offering folks more than just snacks and beverages.
Believe it or not, a new set of vending machines installed in New York’s Rockefeller Center offer folks the options of getting anything from sandwiches and cookies, to a Brooks Brothers shirt . . . and even an engagement ring.
The six vending machines are located in the series of concourses that run through the 14 buildings that make up Rockefeller Center. For those who need a last minute engagement ring, the vending machine option will set them back $800 but as of now there hasn’t been any takers.
While there are plenty of stores within walking distance of Rockefeller Center where folks could pick up a ring, say like Tiffany’s, the vending machines are there to serve a specific type of customer. As EB Kelly, managing director of Rockefeller Center, explains, “We have people who might need something first thing in the morning or later at night when other stores are closed."
