Deputies in South Carolina say seven children were found locked up in a home in "horrific conditions."
The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office said the children are between ages one and five. They were found deadbolted inside several rooms during an inspection of the rental home Wednesday in Summerville, outside of Charleston. The children have been handed over to social services while charges are pending against the two unnamed adults.
The relationship between the adults and children isn't clear, but they're believed to be the parents of at least some of them. Neighbors reported seeing several men and women go in and out of the home daily. A hearing on the case is set for today.
