Russian Cows Get VR Headsets To Reduce Anxiety

Milk comes from happy cows, or so the commercial says. One herd is having its mental health boosted thanks to VR technology.

Moscow's Ministry of Agriculture says a Russian farm is strapping virtual-reality headsets to its cows' heads to simulate a summer field. The idea is to reduce anxiety in the bovines. Initial tests reportedly showed that the simulation program boosted "the overall emotional mood of the herd."

The ministry says researchers will examine the effects of the program in a long-term study, and will expand the project if positive results continue.
