Truck Knocks Out Power To Florida Town After GPS Typo

A typo is partly responsible for a power outage in Florida's Broward County.

Dozens of people in Pompano Beach lost electricity yesterday morning after a semi truck knocked over some power lines. The driver was looking for Northwest 18th Street, but he mistakenly typed 'Northeast' into his GPS and wound up on a street that's too small for his big truck. That’s how all the palm trees and utility poles got knocked down. Some of the trees ended up on parked vehicles.

How did the driver NOT know he was doing all the damage? The street is a dead end, so he backed down the road to get out. The driver was cited, and power was restored to more than 40 homes late last night.
