A Virginia woman is on a mission to give away one million books to kids and she’s getting closer every year. Jennifer Williams is better known as the “Book Lady” in her community of Chatham thanks to her generosity.
For the last three years, she’s collected new books and has given one to every student at Chatham Elementary School. And she does it on the same day each year -Dr. Seuss’ birthday. So far, she’s handed out over 63,000 books in her hometown and she’s only been at it for a few years.
The Book Lady shares her hope for the kids, explaining, “I want them to find a book that they love, that inspires them to want to find more great stories and keep reading.”
