48-year-old Laura Oglesby has been arrested for stealing her estranged daughter’s identity and using it to get student loans, enroll in college…and seduce young men. She allegedly applied for a Social Security Card in the name of her daughter, Lauren Hays, in 2016, and then used it to get a Missouri driver’s license in that name. She then enrolled in Southwest Baptist University, received over $15k in federal student loans and Pell grants, and even worked at the local library. Everyone believed she was only 22, including multiple young men in their 20s who were her boyfriends. She pleaded guilty to one count of intentionally providing false information to the Social Security Administration and will serve five years without parole. She also has to pay $17,521 in restitution to the school and her daughter, who hasn’t commented on the scam.
