The cremated remains of 89 people have been found inside a vacant Ohio church.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation says they found dozens of boxes and bags with the names of cremated individuals while searching a vacant church in Akron on Tuesday. The church is reportedly connected to 41-year-old Shawnte Hardin, who's being accused of running a funeral home without a license.
Mr. Hardin's attorney says his client is not connected to the remains, and claims he was asked to store them by a former Toledo funeral home operator who had been convicted of abusing corpses. That man died and now authorities will have to try and reunite the remains with their loved ones.
