A letter from a Titanic passenger sells at auction

For most of us, the closest we'll get to "Titanic" is watching the movie.  For one lucky, and rich, bidder, they now own a piece of the actual history of the notorious ship.  A letter written by one of the doomed passengers has been auctioned off . . . and it pulled in $166,000.

The letter was written by first-class passenger Alexander Oskar Holverson to his mom on Titanic “on-board” stationary.  He describes his impressions of the palatial ship, praising the food and music. Alexander, whose wife survived the sinking, writes “If all goes well we will arrive in New York Wednesday A.M."

It's unclear exactly how the letter made its way from Alexander's body at the bottom of the ocean to the auction block, but it's now the most valuable Titanic correspondence ever!
