Sam Hunt Compares Passing The Ball From Football To Music

Before Sam Hunt was hitting it big on the radio charts, he was hitting it hard on the football field.

In a recent interview with Cody Alan, the country star shared how his first longshot dream helped him launch his career in music.

“I think that going off to college to play football, well even high school, that was a tall task,” says the country singer. “Like, “Am I good enough?” “Can I work hard enough?” “Can I get to this point?” So you set these goals when you feel like the mountain is a long way away.”

“After hitting some of those marks in high school and hitting some of those marks, and then going off to college and hitting some of those marks there, I was able to really understand how putting in the time can pay off,” says Sam.

“And, when it came to country music and making it here, that was definitely the longest shot that I’ve attempted,” says the “Take Your Time” singer.

“But, you know, I certainly put in the work because I felt like I had a long way to go when I first moved to town,” says Sam. “So, if I didn’t put in the time and the hours that I did, there was no way I would have been able to get where I am. So, I am grateful that I understood how that worked.”

Sam Hunt and Florida Georgia Line are among the artists added to the iHeartRadio Music Festival happening Sept. 17-18. Get ticket and show information by clicking HERE.
