One dad is taking the saying “go big or go home” seriously.
Tony DeMatteo of Rochester, New York wanted to do something fun for Halloween for his kids, so he built a 50 foot long, 20 foot tall pirate ship in his front yard. DeMatteo has no building background, but has built a smaller “Pirates of the Caribbean” pirate ship before.
The ship is made from recycled metal, wood, and rope and includes a skeleton in the crow’s nest, six cannons that light up, a fog machine and fire blasters. He even added a soundtrack that is synchronized to the effects.
Two professional pirate actors helped give out bags of candy and the creative dad asked that anyone stopping by bring canned goods or food donations. Ahead of the holiday, his garage was stuffed full!
