If you haven’t done your holiday shopping yet you don’t have much time left to get it done, but you are far from the only person waiting until the last minute to check off all the items on your gift list.
A new LendingTree survey finds:
- 19% of shoppers say they wait until the last minute to do their holiday shopping.
- The top item last-minute shoppers wait to purchase is sporting goods, with a 194% increase compared to the monthly average.
- Other categories that see a huge amount of last minute shopping include:
- Toys (193%)
- Cards and Stationary (163%)
- Jewelry and Watches (153%)
- Furniture and Home Décor (137%)
- Bookstores (128%)
- Clothing and Accessories (126%)
- Pets (116%)
- Arts and Crafts (116%)
- Discount Stores (115%)
- The average shopper will spend the most on December 23rdand 24that outlet stores, about $266, followed by jewelers and watchmakers, where they’ll spend about $231.
- Florists also see the biggest spending increases, with folks spending $219 on December 23rdand 24th, up 97% from the rest of December.
