The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling more than 190-thousand ceiling fans that were sold at The Home Depot this year.
Authorities say the blades on the Hampton Bay 54-inch Mara Indoor/Outdoor fans can detach while the fan is on, because the locking clip fails. That means they fly across the room. So far, there have been almost 50 reports of the blade doing so, with numerous reports of injury and property damage.
The affected ceiling fans were sold at the retailer between April of this year and October.
