New York City officials will be honoring front line workers as part of the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square.
Every year there are special guests and this year, officials will be celebrating dozens of New York City coronavirus heroes by inviting their families to the ball drop event. New York families, including doctors, grocery store workers and teachers, are expected to be in Times Square.
Because of coronavirus, there will only be a very limited number of people and Times Square will not be open to the public for the celebration. They include broadcasters, performers, and essential workers.
Everyone else will be blocked from the annual tradition of standing in Times Square for the ball drop. Take heart, though, we’ll get to watch it online and TV.
