You won’t see iconic Budweiser commercials during this year’s Super Bowl.
The current climate helped Budweiser decide to pass on placing commercials in the big game, the first time that’s happened in 37 years. Instead, the company says it is focusing on digital ads to support COVID-19 vaccine awareness and access. This year’s “Super Bowl” ad will focus on Americans who were resilient during the healthcare crisis and healthcare workers who were the first to get the vaccine. Rashida Jones will narrate.
The beer company is also donating a percentage of its advertising airtime for 2021 to the Ad Council and COVID Collaborative’s Vaccine Education Initiative.
Budweiser will promote it’s beer, but in a different way. U.S. consumers who are at least 21 years old a free beer when they visit ABeerOnBud.com between Jan. 25 and Feb. 7. The company’s other brands, including Michelob Ultra, Bud Light and Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade, will have in-game ads during the Super Bowl.
