Walmart is announcing it will spend 350-billion dollars over the next ten years to sell items made, grown or assembled in the U.S.
Though the store can’t proclaim the stuff “Made In The USA,” it’s a big step forward. The retail giant estimates this commitment will support more than 750-thousand new American jobs. Walmart also says the move will significantly cut CO2 emissions by sourcing closer to customers.
They believe it will provide the opportunity for nine-thousand entrepreneurs to become Walmart suppliers. The company will also launch a program called "American Lighthouses," which aims to unite suppliers in specific regions with experts in academia and government to make the supply chain more efficient.
