The earliest named storm on record is moving out into the eastern Pacific Ocean.
Tropical Storm Andres has formed hundreds of miles off the west coast of Mexico with sustained winds of 40 miles an hour. The National Weather Service says the storm that was moving out to sea Sunday morning is not expected to threaten land and probably will break up within the next 48 hours.
Andres beat the record set by Tropical Storm Adrian, which strengthened to named status on May 10th, 2017. The eastern Pacific hurricane season runs from May 15th to November 30th. The Atlantic season starts on June 1.
