While searching for a lost wedding ring in the Florida Keys, a diver found a class ring that had been lost by its owner 36 years earlier. Shawn Rauch was using a metal detector off the coast of Lido Key when he came across a ring from the class of 1986 from Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia.
He only had the initials on the ring to go by, and with some Internet research he narrowed that down to three members of the graduating class with those initials. Rauch determined it likely belonged to Mark Murray and with help from some of his classmates, he was able to connect with him.
Murray told Rauch he only had the ring for two weeks before he lost it in 1985 and he’s grateful to have it back after all these years. And for Rauch, that’s the best part. “It’s fun finding gold and diamonds and, you know, Rolex watches,” he explains. “But by far the best part is getting these reactions from people thinking that these hugely
