Core of the Community Festival Coming on Labor Day weekend

Winchester, VA – Concern Hotline, Top of Virginia Regional Chamber, and the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® Inc. are collaborating to bring our community members, non-profits, and businesses together for a fun-filled Labor Day weekend celebration from Thursday, September 2 through Saturday, September 4, 2021.

The holiday weekend activities kickoff at 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 2nd with the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber’s 9th Annual Valor Awards ceremony at the Frederick County Fairgrounds. The Top of Virginia Regional Chamber, in collaboration with the police, sheriff and fire and rescue departments in Winchester, Clarke, and Frederick County honor public safety personnel and citizens for extraordinary acts of courage.

“The Valor Awards are an opportunity for the community to celebrate the heroism of first responders and brave citizens in our region” said Cynthia Schneider, CEO for the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber. “TVRC invites you to help acknowledge the valiant character and sacrifices that enhance our quality of life and help to keep our community safe.”

Categories include the Citizen’s Award, Lifesaving Award, and the Awards of Valor, among others. These awards will acknowledge acts that went above and beyond the call of duty during the time period of July 31, 2020 – June 30, 2021.

The Valor Awards are made possible by Presenting Sponsor, City National Bank, and Platinum Sponsor, Bank of Clarke County.

On Friday September 3rd, Concern Hotline will bring you the newest WIDE OPEN Fish Fry to date! Some changes will be made, most importantly the location and the partnerships. As an opportunity to move to a new location, and be part of a bigger Community Celebration, Concern wants to welcome one and all to the FREDERICK COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS in Clearbrook VA. from 4:00 to 9:00 pm on September. 3rd. Thanks to our loyal supporters, we have outgrown our home of many years at Grove’s Harley Davidson, and we bid them a fond farewell! We have thoroughly enjoyed our extensive partnership and are so thankful for their support. This opportunity also brings exciting news, as we will be partnering on a Labor Day Weekend celebration with the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival®, Inc as we team to bring you the BEST our community has to offer! We are excited to begin these new relationships as we see the CORE of our community stepping forward to bring you the best of the best!

Concern will again offer our now famous Fish Fry, with all the fixings you have come to expect, along with our Drive-thru options for those of you unable to sit and stay a while. JUNKFOOD will be performing on the Concern Fish Fry stage, bringing their energy and great music for your enjoyment.

Concern Hotline Fish Fry tickets are $25 at the door, and $20 in advance. As always, kids under 10 will be admitted free of charge. Tickets will be available after June 30th. Please visit our EVENTBRITE location for more details and to purchase your tickets.

Saturday, September 4th promises to be a full day of fun with events for all ages. Kickoff your Saturday morning with the Valley Health Four-Mile Race and the Shenandoah Valley Orthodontics One-Mile Kids’ Run. At 1:00 pm, the gates open at the Frederick County Fairgrounds for the inaugural Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® Inc. BBQ & Brews. Enjoy local BBQ, food trucks, live music and tailgating games while sampling craft beer and bourbon from 1:00 to 9:00 pm. Amateurs will be grilling and smoking meats and cooking their favorite side dishes throughout the day as they compete for prizes in the Victory Industrial Construction, LLC Amateur BBQ Competition.
