After deciding to take a six-mile swim to a lighthouse early in the morning, Ruairi McSorley thought he was in trouble when he was surrounded by fins in the water, but it turned out to be dolphins instead of sharks. The best part? According to rescue personnel, the dolphins were trying to help McSorley.
Rescuers say he’s lucky to be alive after spending 14 hours at sea; they say his body temperature was dangerously low and was about a half-hour from disaster. The rescue crew members say spotting the dolphins led them to McSorley just in time. He’s now fully recovered, and for his next adventure, he says he wants to become an auctioneer in Texas.
