Hurricane Larry isn't expected to reach the East Coast but swells from the storm could start pounding beaches from Florida to Maine today.
The massive storm’s sustained winds of 115 miles an hour could increase wave action all along the Atlantic Coast, prompting coastal flooding at high tide. The Category 3 storm isn’t expected to get stronger, and it will come close enough to the Northeast to dump some rain over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Ida soaked parts of the Northeast and Southeast will see rain today, with the Northeast under flash flood watches. The showers are typical of late summer weather, but they're adding to the troubles Ida's destruction brought last week.
