“Pioneer Woman” Ree Drummond Spreads Holiday Cheer In New Movie

For those who don’t know, Ree Drummond is an author/blogger and she’s known to millions as the “Pioneer Woman.” She’s also jumping from her cooking show…into acting with her first role in “Candy Coated Christmas,” the first scripted movie from the Food Network. The holiday-themed flick will premiere on November 19thon discovery+.

Ree will play Bee, the owner of a sweet shop located in the town of Peppermint Hollow, the peppermint capital of the world (what a stretch, right?). What’s the setup? After learning that her family's business is facing bankruptcy, a woman named Molly(played by Molly McCook)returns to small hometown of her late mother in Washington. She intends on selling her mother's childhood home before she meets the current renters, Noah Winters(played by Aaron O'Connell)and his family. But…as it would happen…Molly starts to fall in love with the town, its bakery (run by Bee) and, of course, Noah.

"I am so incredibly honored that Food Network asked me to play Bee," she says in a press release. "If I get to be in just one movie in my life, I want it to be a Christmas movie."

ONE MORE THING! If one helping of holiday sweetness isn’t enough for you, there’s also an added feature: “Candy Coated Christmas: Behind the Scenes with Ree Drummond,” which will start streaming on November 1st(also on discovery+). You can take a look at wardrobe fittings, get baking tips and more. And if you’re interested in the Mint Brownie Bites that “Bee” gives out in the film, there’s a real recipe – created by Ree – and you can find itHERE.
