When we all get old and grey, we can only hope to be half as badass as M.J. “Sunny” Eberhart. Also nicknamed the “Nimblewill Nomad,” Eberhart has officially gone down in history as the oldest person to ever hike the entire Appalachian Trail. In the spirit of accuracy, we should say that he did the trail in sections…and not just in one shot…but still it’s pretty impressive for an 83-year-old man. The previous record was set by 82-year-old Dale “Greybeard” Sanders, who joined Eberhart for his historic finish, and was proud to see him take his mark. As for what’s next, “Sunny” says this isn’t his “final hike,” he just has no clue where he’ll hike next. Source: Associated Press
