NASA has started a program to figure out how humans are likely to take the news that alien life has been found on another planet when and if that happens. The Center for Theological Inquiry program at Princeton University is hiring 24 theologians to assess how humans will react and how that discovery will impact our ideas on gods and creation.
Dr. Andrew Davison is among the 24, and he believes we’re getting closer to finding life on other planets. He says that ‘Non-religious people seem to overestimate the challenges that religious people…would experience if faced with evidence of alien life.” Studies and surveys have shown that U.S. Christians are less likely to believe life exists on other planets.
