Americans Are Afraid Of 2022

When 2020 came to an end, Americans were optimistic for a “less terrible” 2021, according to an Axios/Survey Money poll. Now, it’s a full year later, and that same survey shows a much drearier outlook. In 2020, 36% of respondents said they were “more fearful” of 2021. That percentage increased to 54% going into 2022. Interestingly, only 37% said they were “more fearful” when it came to the future of COVID. As far as the issues that mattered most to people, “the economy” took the top spot, with 31% citing it as their top concern. Coming in second was “democracy,” which was cited by 17% of respondents.
