2022 didn’t start out well for a town in Cyprus.
The town’s landmark 16-foot-tall sculpture shaped like a potato was chopped down early on January 1st, causing around $5,400 in damages. The potato was erected in October to honor the nation’s staple crop.
Twitter soon filled with tourist photos of the sculpture that officials compared to the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty.
No word on if it will be replaced.
