After her short program Olympic performance yesterday, an “emotionally tired” Kamila Valieva looked to the sky and cried, as if all of the recent attention her positive drug test finally got to her. Currently, Valieva is in the lead, which, if that lead holds, means there’ll be no medal ceremony…and all the other “clean” skaters will get a high-five and an emotional equivalent to a participation trophy. As for how the drugs got into her system, Valieva says it was because of a “mix-up with her grandfather’s heart medication.” Surely that tidbit of info means the world to those skaters whose hard work will likely result in nothing more than an exhibition.
