Netflix Goes After Gaming Market

Netflix is looking to target gaming with its latest acquisition.

The streaming giant has offered to buy mobile game maker Next Games. The Finnish studio is behind the hit-Netflix show "Stranger Things" mobile game. Netflix is planning to pay around two-dollars and 33-cents per share of Next Games for a total value of about 72-million dollars.

The companies shared the news in a joint statement and expect to close the deal in the second quarter of this year. The move into gaming is to hopefully replicate the success of companies like Sony and Microsoft.

Right now, Netflix has 14 mobile games and 18 interactive-video options available. All of it is tightly focused on the shows available on its streaming service. Don’t look for Netflix to expand past that.
