Would Americans Buy A House Where The Previous Owners Were Murdered?

These days it seems like there are a lot of folks out there desperate to buy a house, and a new poll finds many may be willing to overlook some creepy things in order to snag one.

A new YouGov poll finds:

  • If a home met all of their requirements, 30% of folks would still be willing to buy the home if they found out the previous owners had murdered.
  • About the same amount, 32% would not.

But it appears how you feel about ghosts and demons plays a role in how comfortable you are buying a murder home.

  • Overall, the poll finds:
    • 36% of Americans believe in ghosts.
    • 37% believe in demons.
    • 37% believe in psychics.
  • Of those who believe in ghosts, only 24% would buy a house where the previous owners were murdered, compared to 38% who wouldn’t.
  • While 35% who don’t believe in ghosts would, and 30% wouldn’t.
  • 30% who believe in demons would buy a murder house, while 34% who don’t believe would as well.
  • Like ghost believers, those who believe in psychics are more hesitant, with only 24% willing to buy a house where the owners were murdered, and 38% saying absolutely not.
