The Lyrid Meteor shower begins on Thursday.
The comet Thatcher drags the spectacular sight as part of its “tail” and has been doing so for centuries. Between five and 20 meteors will shoot across the sky every hour and leave a glowing trail.
The Lyrid show is at its brightest between moonset and dawn. But it is visible after 9 pm. It’s best seen in unlit areas and visible from April 14 through the 30th.
