Getting married these days isn’t cheap.
The national average for a wedding is about $30-thousand according to “The Knot,” but one Los Angeles couple bucked the trend. Kiara and Joel Brokenbrough only racked up a $500 bill for theirs.
Kiara started the savings by buying a $47 dress from online retailer Shein’s. Her family pitched in for the flowers and the runner. Their wedding venue was free…and right off a California freeway! Guests paid for their own food and drinks at the reception.
Kiara says the key to pulling it off was having supportive friends and family. The biggest tip she shares is to find a place that is free and already pretty so you don't need to spend money on decorations. She also says that through the process, couples must remember their end goal, which is marriage.
Kiara shared some tips for saving on the wedding costs on her TikTok account.
