Canada’s Jocelyne Larocque Removed Silver Medal After USA Loss

If ever there was an image that captures agony, it was Canada’s Jocelyne Larocque yesterday.

While she stood on the podium to receive her silver medal, after a loss that had to be as heartbreaking for every member of the Canadian Women’s team—losing the first ever Olympic Women’s Final to end in a shootout—as it was exhilarating for all of the U.S. women, she did something that is being criticized.

She took off the silver medal before it had even settled onto her neck.

No, I mean it, take a look below.

when asked about it she said this:

“Just hard. We were going for gold.”

Jocelyne is being branded as “unsportsmanlike,” for not wearing her medal—eventually being forced to by Canadian Olympic officials who told Jocelyne she couldn’t hide her medal for legal reasons.

U.S. coach Robb Stauber however understood completely saying:

“I definitely understand it. It’s a very heated rivalry.”
