Just How Addicted Are We To The Internet?

These days it seems like folks rarely look up from their smartphones or computers, so it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that a lot of people spend most of their day on the Internet.

According to a new Pew Research poll, 77% of Americans say they go online daily, with 26% admitting they are online “almost constantly,” an increase of 5% from 2016. What’s more, 43% say they go online several times a day, with only 8% going on once a day, and 11% going online several times a week or less. And, believe it or not, there are some people who are Internet free, with 11% saying they don’t use it at all.

And anyone with a teenager or twenty-something won’t be surprised by this fact. Young adults are more likely to say they go on the Internet constantly, with 39% of 18 to 29-year-olds falling into that category, while 49% go on multiple times a day. On the other end of the spectrum, only 8% of those 65 or older say they are online constantly, and only 30% go on multiple times a day.
