Sky diving, concerts, and backpacking across the world may be on your bucket list, but how about climbing Mount Kilimanjaro? That one’s been on Mandy Moore’s bucket list since she was 18-years-old and she finally checked it off last week. She shared tons of photos from her emotional ascent to the top of Africa’s highest mountain on Instagram.
“I have dreamed the dream of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro since the age of 18,” she captioned one of her posts. “Thanks to @eddiebauer, my partner in this adventure, this past week saw #1 on my bucket list come to fruition and I lived out one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of my life with a few of my best friends."
Along the way, Mandy shared her journey filled with dirty hair, flimsy tents, and bathroom runs on her Instagram story. She later posted a series of photos from her final ascent to the highest tip. “Reaching the threshold of the true summit was more emotional and overwhelming than I had thought possible,” Mandy notes. “Kilimanjaro demands a lot from those who traverse her trails. You have no choice but to show up. And we did. There’s nothing more empowering than realizing that we are all capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for.”
