New 'Confidential Mode' Launched By Google

Google is adding a new layer of security for its users. A "Confidential Mode" will prevent recipients from forwarding, printing or even copying e-mails. Users will also have the option to lock an e-mail message with a password. You’ll reportedly be able to:

  • Configure the expiration date so that your email disappears after 1 week, 1 month, multiple years, etc.
  • You can also ask your recipient to confirm their identity with a passcode sent via text message.

The changes are increasingly important as consumers worry about their data being used and shared. "Confidential Mode" is expected to launch as early as next month during Google's annual Developer Conference.
