Governor Northam announced Tuesday a proposal that will fund $2.2 billion in critical improvements along the I-81 corridor.
The initial draft of the legislation would establish an Interstate 81 Corridor Improvement Fund supported by tolls along I-81.
The proposal would establish limits on toll rates and give cars and small trucks the ability to purchase an annual pass, allowing unlimited use of I-81 for a fixed annual fee.
The money collected would be used only for improvements included in the Interstate 81 Corridor Improvement Plan that was adopted by the Board.
