Kelly Clarkson’s new talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” debuted yesterday, and she started things off with a little fun, with Kelly getting a special introduction from Steve Carell“ 40-Year-Old Virgin” style.
Kelly told the audience that she wanted her show to be about “connections,” noting, “Each of us has the power to make a profound impact on another person,” adding she wants the show to foster a “spirit of community, connection, and fellowship.”
The show also featured Kelly’s full cover of Dolly Parton’s“9 to 5,” complete with real women firefighters, mechanics, utility workers, policewomen and more. She even had many of those real women in the audience, with many dressed in their uniforms. Kelly also took a moment out to hand out cakes to her neighbors on the Universal lot, including Chrissy Metz and Chris Sullivan of "This Is Us."
Her first guest was Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who left his honeymoon to fill in for an injured Kevin Hart, who he said was “doing well” after his accident, although The Rock joked, “These things happen in life and thankfully he was strapped in nicely to his car seat,"
The show also featured a “Rad Human” segment, which had Kelly interviewing Sharon Strauss,founder of theSunshine Pantryin Beaverton, Oregon, and ihad Kelly bring out the some of the locals in Beaverton, who raised $300,000 to relocate the Sunshine Pantry.
