Facebook is jumping into the personal digital healthcare tool game.
The service, called "Preventative Health," will remind people to get healthcare checks connect users to local providers. The social media giant is working with the American Cancer Society, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and others to try and reach the right audience.
For now, the tool is focusing on heart disease and cancer, which are the two leading causes of US deaths, and the flu. You can search in Facebook’s mobile app to find which checkups are recommended by the company’s partner organizations based on the age and gender of a user.
You mark when tests are completed and set reminders for future tests. You can also share about the tool with others in social media.
