Initial data shows that sales on Cyber Monday reached nine-point-two-billion-dollars -- a record.
It's a 17-percent increase over last year, according to Adobe Marketing and Consumer Insights. Amazon shared, to no one’s surprise, that the online shopping event was the single biggest day in company history, based on the number of items ordered. Smartphones were a big driver, accounting for a third of sales.
Hot on the heels of Cyber Monday comes Travel Tuesday. Airlines and booking sites like Orbitz, Travelocity, and CheapTickets want to boost traffic at their sites today with promises of real deals.
The Smarter Traveler website and Skyscanner say there definitely are deals today, and Tuesday is always the best day to book a flight, but some of today's deals are the same ones you could get next week. The trick is to track flight prices and grab them low.
