It's been a great run but all things must eventually come to an end and if PETA gets it's way, our old friend Punxsutawney Philwill be sent to a retirement home to live out his days in peace. Every year on February 2, Pennsylvania's most famous groundhog is removed from his dwelling and held high in front of a crowd that is eagerly waiting to see if the large rodent sees his shadow. The outcome is said to predict whether we look forward to early spring or six more weeks of winter. PETA is campaigning for that tradition to end. Instead, PETA is suggesting that they create "an animatronic groundhog with artificial intelligence (AI) that could actually predict the weather." In other words, a robot.
