Coronavirus Might Cause Diet Coke & Coke Zero Shortage

If you're a Diet Coke or Coke Zero lover like me, you should stock up on your favorite sodas now.

Due to coronavirus, there might be a Diet Coke and Coke Zero shortage in the future.

The artificial sweeteners used in these Coca-Cola products are sourced from China, where the coronavirus originated. In the brand's annual report they disclosed that all production and exports of the artificial sweetener have been officially delayed.

In the report, Coca-Cola wrote "We may see tighter supplies of some of these ingredients in the longer term should production or export operations in China deteriorate.”

They put out a statement reading “The safety and health of the company’s associates remains a high priority. The company has implemented precautionary measures to protect employees in China, which includes providing face masks and hand sanitizers; installing temperature screening in offices and manufacturing facilities; and setting up health monitoring mechanisms across the Coca-Cola system in China.”

During a recent press briefing, the CDC said that coronavirus has reached nearly every continent in the world, with more than 80,000 cases confirmed globally.
