Shenandoah County Fair Association officials are proud to announce the schedule for the 103rd Shenandoah County Fair, located in Woodstock, Va. This year’s them will be FOCUSED ON FUN!
First and foremost, Officials are excited to return to the traditional 9 day Fair beginning Friday, August 28th through Saturday, September 5th. Extended days were due to a Leap Year scheduling opportunity with Cole Amusements for this year only. “Having a longer Fair is always a positive because it provides a greater opportunity for the community to attend multiple days and over the two weekends.” stated Tom Eshelman, General Manager of the Fair Association.
After last year’s success,Christian Contemporary music at the Fair proved to be a genre’ of entertainment that fans from all over the Valley want to attend. In that spirit the Fair was eager to continue that trend by booking one of the nation’s leading Contemporary Christian Groups, “Mercy Me”,who will appear on Friday, September 4th!”Mercy Me is currently considered to be one of the preeminent Christian Groups performing across the country, selling over 9 million records and making history with their mega hit“I Can Only Imagine” which has reached over 2 million downloads, earning recognition and accolades from numerous organizations including the Grammys, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and Christian Broadcasting to name just a few. Fair officials believe this show has the potential to surpass last year’s record attendance to the Casting Crowns concert.
Concerts will be offered two other nights as well.Saturday, September 5th will feature mega-platinum group“Little River Band”. Known for many 1970’s/1980’s iconic songs including: Reminiscing, Cool Change, Lonesome Loser, Happy Anniversary, and many more. LRB distinguished themselves for their outstanding harmonies which led to them being dubbed as “the best singing band in the world”. Thursday, September 3rd the Fair is looking forward to hosting Country Music Icon “JoDee Messina”. This fiery red head is recognized with over a dozen top ten hits including 5 number one singles:I’m Alright, Stand Beside Me, Bye-Bye, Bring on the Rain, and My Give a Damn’s Busted.
Additional Grandstand entertainment will include the traditional 2 nights of demolition derbies. One night featuring a 2 man derby heat and new for the 2nd night will be a mini-van heat. The County&Modified Tractor Pulls and Pick Up Truck Drag Races will also return once again.
The opening Saturday night will feature a return of the popular Monster Truck Jam produced by Vater’s Motorsports. This exciting Monster Truck Show will feature nationally recognized trucks:“Iron Warrior”,“Higher Education”,“Buck Shot”, &“Storm Damage”.
