The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Winchester, Virginia is temporarily closed. However, the theater is producing a series of online screenings to bring films straight to viewers in the comfort of their own home.
The Alamo plans to have new selections throughout this unprecedented time. The first four movies are presented in partnership with the distributor Film Movement. Films include Oscar-nominated CORPUS CHRISTI, the Chinese-noir THE WILD GOOSE LAKE, and two 1976 films that have been recently restored: L’INNOCENTE and DORA FLOR AND HER TWO HUSBANDS. The Film Movement titles are available for a $12 rental per film, and viewers have 72 hours to watch. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the “Join Us For Online Screenings Today” post in the “news” section of www.drafthouse.com/winchester
Programming Director Andy Gyurisin is working with several other independent distributors and hopes to announce several new titles each week. Prices and details may vary depending on distributor and title.
“I love going to the movies, and this unique opportunity allows me to continue to support our Alamo and discover bold and creative new voices from around the world! We will be offering incentives to those who participate, Facebook discussions to cultivate our community, and perhaps even more. We are in uncharted waters, and I’m proud to have the Shenandoah Valley being a beacon of support!”
