Trump Weighs In On Olympics And Sending Team USA

While the world waits for a solid decision about whether the 2020 Olympic Summer Games will go on, President Trump is weighing in.

With the possibility of the Summer Olympics being postponed due to the coronavirus, Trump says the U.S. will defer to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on whether to send athletes to the games.

Trump tweeted this morning that "We will be guided by the wishes of Prime Minister Abe of Japan, a great friend of the United States and a man who has done a magnificent job on the Olympic Venue, as to attending the Olympic Games in Japan. He will make the proper decision!"

Abe had been adamant that the games will start on time in July despite the ongoing concern of the coronavirus outbreak. However, Abe now says holding the games as scheduled may be too difficult. He pointed to concerns of keeping people healthy.

Those comments come as Canada and Australia say they will not send teams to the Olympics if it's not postponed.
