...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 115 PM EDT
FOR NORTHEASTERN SHENANDOAH...FREDERICK AND CLARKE COUNTIES IN
NORTHWESTERN VIRGINIA...WESTERN JEFFERSON AND SOUTHERN BERKELEY
COUNTIES IN THE PANHANDLE OF WEST VIRGINIA AND THE CITY OF
WINCHESTER...
At 1236 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Greenwood to Star Tannery, moving east at 45 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to
fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage
homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed
trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured
light objects may become projectiles.
Locations impacted include...
Winchester, Martinsburg, Charles Town, Millwood Pike, Ranson,
Berryville, Inwood, Stephens City, Kearneysville, Star Tannery,
Middletown, Boyce, Middleway, Winebrenners Cross, White Post, Cedar
Grove, Gaylord, Clear Brook, Ridgeway and Bunker Hill.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 600 PM EDT for northwestern
Virginia...and the Panhandle of West Virginia.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
