A Florida man makes a quick stop at a 7-Eleven and wins $1-million on a lottery scratch-off ticket. 57-year-old Willie Myrick Jr of Lakeland stopped by a 7-Eleven convenience store in Mulberry, Florida, last week and decided to grab a $20 Florida Lottery GOLD RUSH scratch-off game. When he played the game, he realized he’d won $1-million.
A few days later, Myrick made the trip to Tallahassee to pick up his winnings. He told lotto officials that the win was more than a stroke of luck for him, it was a way for him to give back to his family. "I feel so blessed," Myrick says. "The first thing I plan to do is use some of my winnings to take care of my mother."
Myrick has opted to take his winnings in yearly installments of $40-thousand for the next 25 years. The 7-Eleven where Myrick bought the lucky ticket will get a $2-thousand commission for selling him the winning scratch-off. The odds of hitting the $1-million prize in the GOLD RUSH game is 1 in 756-thousand.
