A new analysis shows a new billionaire was created about every 30 hours during the COVID-19 pandemic. Statistics released by Oxfam shows some 573 people became billionaires globally since 2020, bringing the worldwide total to 2,668. The increase was driven by strong gains in the stock markets. The report, which looks at the rise of inequality, estimates up to 263-million people could be pushed into extreme poverty worldwide in 2022.
