What appeared to be an elderly woman in a wheelchair was wheeling past the Mona Lisa in the Louvre Sunday night when she jumped to her feet and threw a custard pie at the painting. Then "she" turned out to be a man in disguise! He threw a bouquet of roses into the air just before he was tackled by security guards.
The man turned out to be an artist and climate change activist who said he pulled the stunt as a protest, saying “Artists think about the Earth, that’s why I did this. Think of the planet!” The painting wasn’t harmed, as it has a sheet of bulletproof glass in front of it.
