(Binghamton, NY) -- A second-grader in upstate New York is being hailed as a hero after he used the Heimlich [[ HIME-lik ]] maneuver to saving a choking classmate. Seven-year-old David Diaz Junior jumped into action when he noticed his friend choking on pizza during lunch at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Binghamton. The boy said he learned the lifesaving move while watching the TV medical drama, "The Good Doctor," with his father. David told second grade teacher Kristin Korba he made a mental note to remember the Heimlich maneuver since it looked like something important to know.
