Woman Makes Eleven-Thousand Calls To Police This Year

(St. Petersburg, FL) -- A woman was arrested after making over eleven-thousand calls to police this year. Carla Jefferson was busted on Monday on a misdemeanor charge of placing a torrent of calls to a Florida police department and sheriff's office. At one point, Jefferson made 512 calls to police in a 24-hour period. Authorities say she would routinely harass, belittle, yell at, and threaten the employees who answer her calls. Police say Jefferson's eleven-thousand calls over the last year have accounted for roughly ten-percent of the total call volume for the St. Petersburg Police Department. She was arrested in late-June for refusing to stop her calls, and was arrested again on Monday after she continued to harass dispatchers.
