Jeremy Duffie of Bethesda, Maryland has one heck of a fish story to tell. As a participant in the 2022 White Marlin Open, Jeremy reeled in the winning fish…a 77.5-pound white marlin. The fish that tournament organizers are calling a world record also brought Jeremy a $4.4M prize, and it may wind up being more.

Organizers say his award could climb to $4.5M after they add up the money from the unwon swordfish category. Jeremy wasn’t the only big winner this year; Bill Britt of Sandy Spring, Maryland won $1.2M for a 511-pound blue marlin.
